Salem County Jail Roster Overview
The official Salem County inmate lookup is hosted at http://50.223.136.133:8085/IML and linked from the Salem County Sheriff's Office navigation as "Inmate LookUp - Opens in new Tab." The platform footer identifies DSI-ITI or Digital Solutions, Inc. The tool is free, and no login was observed. It supports current and released-inmate searches through a name path and an identifier path.
Salem County Correctional Facility is the only local detention facility in the Facility Map. It is operated by the Salem County Sheriff's Office - Department of Corrections at 125 Cemetery Road, Woodstown, NJ 08098. Sheriff Charles M. Miller heads the sheriff's office, and Warden John S. Cuzzupe leads the jail. The facility can hold people committed for alleged or adjudicated violations of local, state, or federal law, and public profiles may show other county labels because Salem has a shared-service and regional jail role.
The official Salem County inmate lookup search screen displays the two lookup options used for jail roster access.
Because the released-inmate checkbox appears directly in the search form, the same screen can be used when the person may have left custody but remains available in the public lookup.
How to Use the Salem County Jail Roster
The Salem County inmate roster has an older application layout titled "Inmate Lookup Tool" and "IML - v. 3.1." Search Option 1 is best when a name is known. Search Option 2 is stronger when an identifier is available. The date-of-birth box uses mm/dd/yyyy formatting, and the search and reset controls are image buttons.
- Open the sheriff-linked Salem County inmate lookup.
- Use Option 1 for first name, last name, and date of birth. A blank current search returned all current roster records during inspection, but a name should be used when possible.
- Select "Include released inmates" if the person may have been released and the available released records should be searched.
- Use Option 2 for Booking Number, Permanent Number, State ID, County ID, FBI Number, or ICE Number when one of those identifiers is known.
- Click Search. The result table appears under "Inmate Database Search Results" and gives a row-level link to the public profile.
- Open the profile to read booking photos, demographics, current location, county, commitment date, bond, charge, detainer, alias, and hearing sections.
When a person was just arrested and does not appear, use the jail info line at 856-769-4300. Recent intake, spelling, transfer timing, a court release, or an outside-agency hold can explain a missing or confusing result.
Salem County Roster Search Fields
The roster is more flexible than many county lookup tools because it exposes an ICE Number identifier option along with booking, permanent, state, county, and FBI identifiers. The released-inmate checkbox appears in both search modes, but the system does not publish a fixed released-record retention period.

| First Name | Text | Unspecified | Name search field; Enter can submit when focused. |

What a Salem County Inmate Profile Shows
The result table shows name, booking number, permanent ID, date of birth, and release date. A profile opened from the result row contains much more detail. A sample profile inspected on June 22, 2026 displayed multiple booking-photo thumbnails, a large photo, demographic fields, identifiers, current location, county, commitment date, projected release note, alias, detainer, bond, charge, and hearing sections.
The public profile view from the Salem County lookup shows how booking photos and record sections are grouped after a result is selected.
The profile layout is also the reason court records should be checked separately: roster charge and bond fields can change as prosecutors and courts act on the case.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Booking Number | Booking identifier, with observed examples using a year-number format such as 2026-1208. |
| Permanent ID | Person-level internal identifier separate from the booking event. |
| Booking Photo | Public profile can display multiple thumbnails and a larger image. |
| Demographics | Sex, DOB, height, weight, hair, eye, complexion, race, ethnicity, marital status, citizenship, and country of birth where populated. |
| Current Location | Location value such as MAIN; housing section, block, cell, or bed fields may be present but blank. |
| County | Can show Salem County or another county label, such as Gloucester County, under shared-service custody. |
| Commitment Date | Date recorded for the person's commitment into jail custody. |
| Bond Information | Case number, amount, percent, additional amount, total, bond type, status, posted-by, post date, and grand total if populated. |
| Charge Information | Case number, offense date, statute code, description, grade, and degree. |
| Detainer and Hearing Sections | May list information or state no information; blank public detail does not prove no internal record exists. |
Finding County, State, Federal, and Immigration Inmates
The Salem County roster covers the county jail side of custody. It is the correct first stop for a person held at Salem County Correctional Facility, including pretrial defendants, sentenced county inmates, warrant commitments, and authorized local or other-agency holds. A sentenced state prisoner is searched through NJDOC, a sentenced federal prisoner through BOP, and an ICE detainee through ODLS.
| Custody | Where to Look |
|---|---|
| Pretrial or short county sentence | Salem County jail roster |
| Sentenced state prisoner | New Jersey Department of Corrections offender search |
| Sentenced federal inmate | Federal BOP inmate locator |
| Federal pretrial custody | U.S. Marshals District of New Jersey, federal court records, attorney contact, or facility confirmation |
| Immigration detention | ICE Online Detainee Locator System or 866-347-2423 when ODLS is not enough |
| Notifications | New Jersey VINE for custody and case notification services |
Mobile app note: Salem County Prosecutor materials document SCCrimeTips/tip411 for public-safety tips. No sheriff inmate roster app was located, and SCCrimeTips is not an inmate lookup tool.
Salem County Jail Facilities
The assigned Facility Map contains one facility. The same jail handles local inmate records, public roster results, visitation, mail, commissary, and custody questions. Municipal police departments may make arrests or hold someone briefly before transfer or release, but no separate official municipal adult jail roster was located for Salem County.

Booking Process in Salem County
Salem County does not publish a public step-by-step booking manual, so the local booking sequence is reconstructed from roster fields, sheriff corrections material, and New Jersey county correctional standards. A person can be arrested by a municipal police department, the sheriff, New Jersey State Police, another county, or an agency acting on a warrant or hold. After transport or commitment to Salem County Correctional Facility, staff enter identifying data into the jail system.
Public record fields show the shape of the intake process. Booking creates or links the booking number and permanent ID. Demographic and identifier fields may include DOB, sex, race, ethnicity, citizenship, state ID, FBI number, and ICE number. The profile can then show booking photos, current location, county, commitment date, bond rows, charge rows, detainer status, alias information, and hearing information.
New Jersey county jail rules also support intake details that may not appear online. N.J.A.C. 10A:31-13 covers county correctional health services, and N.J.A.C. 10A:31-21.5 says newly admitted inmates must be permitted at least two local or collect long-distance calls as soon as practicable during admission. Public users should not treat a blank public field as proof the jail lacks internal data.
Visitation Hours and Rules
Salem County personal visits are 40 minutes. The sheriff visiting page says an inmate is not eligible for a personal visit until incarcerated for 90 days, and each inmate is authorized one personal visit per month. Visits require placement on the inmate's authorized list, and appointment calls are taken Wednesday before the designated weekend from 7:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at 856-769-4300 ext. 7790.
The official Salem County visiting schedule gives the unit-specific weekend table and appointment rules.
The roster's current location and housing fields may help with that confirmation, although public housing detail can be blank and should be verified by phone.
| Visit Rule | Official Detail |
|---|---|
| Visit length | 40 minutes. |
| Eligibility delay | No personal visit until the inmate has been incarcerated for 90 days. |
| Frequency | One personal visit per month. |
| Scheduling phone | 856-769-4300 ext. 7790. |
| Scheduling window | Wednesday before the designated weekend, 7:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. |
| Visitor count | One or two adults, two adults and one child, or one adult and two children. |
| Appointment limit | Five appointments per 40-minute time slot. |
| Discipline limits | Class I or II infraction within 30 days can make the inmate ineligible that month. |
Visitor rules are strict. Cell phones are not allowed in the building. Clothing restrictions cover jewelry, skin-tight or see-through clothing, tank tops, hooded garments, camouflage, certain colors, flip flops, open-toe shoes, spiked heels, pajama pants, shorts, and other listed items. Some personal items may stay in a car or paid lobby locker.
How to Contact a Salem County Inmate
Mail goes to Salem County Correctional Facility, 125 Cemetery Road, Woodstown, NJ 08098. Letters must include the inmate's full name and the sender's full name and return address. Incorrectly addressed mail is returned when possible, and mail without sender information can be destroyed. All incoming mail is searched and inspected.
Books, magazines, and newspapers are limited to Barnes & Noble direct orders under the sheriff mail rules. Prohibited content includes weapons, controlled dangerous substances, escape plans, lock-picking or locking-device material, coded communication, criminal-prosecution information, threats to security, incitement of violence or disruption, and sexually explicit or obscene content as listed by the facility.
The sheriff navigation links iWeb Visit for video visitation, but the captured Salem-specific pages did not provide detailed video fees or schedules. Confirm any remote visit schedule, cost, and account requirement in the vendor portal before relying on it.
Commissary and Inmate Funds
Each inmate is assigned a personal account for commissary, phone, and tablet services. Salem County lists several funding routes: mailed money order with the inmate's name, lobby kiosk deposits, Access Corrections by phone, and Access Corrections online. Commissary packages are ordered through Access SecurePak by searching Salem County NJ.
| Method | Official Detail |
|---|---|
| Money order by mail | Mail a money order with the inmate's name on it. |
| Facility lobby kiosk | Kiosk accepts cash and credit cards. |
| Phone deposit | Access Corrections at 636-888-7004. |
| Online deposit | accesscorrections.com; search Salem County NJ - Correctional Facility. |
| Commissary package | Access SecurePak through accesscatalog.com; search Salem County NJ. |
Confirm first: Check current custody status and any transfer, release, detainer, or vendor restriction before sending money or scheduling a visit.
Records Requests for Missing or Historical Inmate Records
When the roster does not show a person or a historical booking record is needed, Salem County OPRA is the local records channel. The county OPRA page identifies OPRA Custodian Sharon Whittick, ext. 8108, and provides email and fax submission options. The county request form lists County of Salem, 110 Fifth Street, Salem, NJ 08079, county phone 856-935-7510, and opra.request@salemcountynj.gov. The county page says a requester should receive an email confirming receipt and should contact the OPRA office if no response arrives within 24 business hours.
Use OPRA for booking records, mugshot requests, jail records, and older information not visible through the current lookup. Use New Jersey court portals for formal case documents, charge status, docket numbers, complaints, tickets, and dispositions. Use NJDOC, BOP, ICE, or federal records channels when the person is outside Salem County jail custody.
